Matchmaking is growing in popularity as singles look for offline options. Matchmaker Lisa Amador talked to us about the matchmaking process, explained why singles choose matchmaking, and tackled some misconceptions about the introduction process.

Lisa Darsonval opened her matchmaking company in February 2012. She was a single mom of three who moved to Santa Barbara to pursue a career helping people find love. Over the past 10 years, she has helped hundreds of singles become couples, about a dozen engagements/marriages, and even some children. 

She even found her own "lover" — literally— who became her husband, Michael Amador (lover in Spanish).

On 4/20, I read a New York Times article “Matchmaker, Matchmaker, Roll Me a Joint.”  It got me thinking, have we gone from ‘Roll out the barrel’ to ‘Roll up the joint?’  As a Matchmaker who represents successful entrepreneurs with a median age of 48, I don’t think so.  While most people are open to dating someone who occasionally enjoys marijuana, more frequent use is a “Deal-breaker”.
